Bactoplus Filter Start Gel

Fish constantly produce ammonia water, which is released when absorbing oxygen through the gills, among other things. Ammonia water forms at a pH above 7.4 as ammonia, which is particularly toxic. In a biological filter, bacteria break down ammonia water via nitrite into nitrate .

Two types of bacteria are responsible for this process. The first group converts ammonia water into nitrite , these bacteria are called 'AOB' . The second group converts nitrite into nitrate , these bacteria are called 'NOB' . Both processes take place with the help of oxygen.

For optimal filter performance, it is therefore particularly important that the water in the filter is rich in oxygen. Bactoplus Filter Start (Gel) contains both AOB and NOB in very large amounts. More than 800 million bacteria per ml are added to the products during production.

Use these products at startup, after maintenance, and when there are water quality issues. If the filter can be easily reached and the filter material can be made dry, the gel version can be placed directly on the filter material, which improves its effectiveness.

Filter Starter (gel) is available in 1, 2½ and 5 liter bottles.

1 liter of the product is enough for 10,000 liters of water.
