Recommended dosage

Fill the test tube with 20 ml of aquarium or pond water up to the lower mark. Slowly add the indicator solution drop by drop, swirling constantly, until the color changes from blue to yellow and no longer reverts. Multiply the number of drops used by 0.5 to calculate the KH in °dH. A KH value of 5 °dH or more is sufficient. If the value is lower, you can increase the KH value using AquaStab (freshwater), aquamarin CalciumStabil (seawater), or TeichFit (pond).

KH Test

DROP TEST FOR AQUARIUMS AND GARDEN PONDS

  • For exact determination of carbonate hardness (KH)
  • Fast and extremely easy
  • Sufficient for up to 100 individual tests

The KH Test is used for the exact determination of carbonate hardness in ponds, freshwater and saltwater aquariums. It is fast and extremely easy to use and is sufficient for up to 100 individual tests.

The KH Test measures with an accuracy of 0.5 °dH and covers a measurement range of 0.5 to 21 °dH.

Instructions for determining carbonate hardness

  1. Fill the test tube with 20 ml of aquarium or pond water (lower mark).
  2. Slowly add the indicator solution drop by drop while swirling constantly.
  3. Count the drops until the color changes from blue to yellow and no further color change occurs.
  4. Evaluation: Number of indicator drops x 0.5 = KH in °dH. If the determined value is 5 °dH or more, the carbonate hardness in the water is sufficient. If the value is below 5 °dH, the carbonate hardness is too low. To increase it, we recommend AquaStab for freshwater aquariums, aquamarin CalciumStabil for saltwater tanks, and TeichFit for ponds.

One drop of indicator solution corresponds to 0.5 °dH.
